  • Meanwhile, Would You Do This to Gatlin:

A local message to Gatlin: JUST SAY NO TO STEROIDS....

Someone in his neighbourhood took that to heart and took it too far, unfortunately:
    http://sport.guardian.co.uk/breakingnew ... 76,00.html

Even in Pensacola, where many still know him as the hometown hero, there is criticism.

"I woke up one morning at my parents house, and written on the side of my vehicle there was 'Just Say No to Steroids,'" Gatlin said. "That really hurt.

"I wiped it off and went in the house and broke down. It was painful."
Knowing what you know at this point -- that Gatlin has professed innocence and is awaiting a positive outcome of his CAS case -- would you encourage him if you saw him, stop and tell him off or would you walk past him and continue as if he were simply another person?

This should give you different fodder to mull through, because his case is not yet closed.

Same thing I said in the thread about Marion applies here.

But Gatlin's not as pretty. 8)

I'll confess - I crashed a Regina Jacobs open house. Had a polite chat, letting her know that I knew her from T&F. But face to face I had no stomach for bringing up much less chastising her for PED use. Not likely to do so to either Jones or Gatlin either, given the chance. They have enough problems without yahoos like me getting in their grille . . .

Not exactly. Jacobs (like Mary Slaney) benefited to the tune of the upper six figures, never admitted wrong-doing, never suffered any consequences at all.

Get this: Slaney is in the Track and Field Hall of Fame.

I believe it was a bit extreme of a person to write on his vehicle.

cant imagine what kind of mind could conceive of getting ugly with one of these outed athletes. First while they may be guilty as charged, i doubt their competition was terribly far behind them in their mastery of the professionally enhanced disciplines.
... nothing really ever changes my friend, new lines for old, new lines for old.

I don't know what to think about Justin. Used to think he was such a good guy. Would just walk by though.

Is Slaney a known PEDs user?

She was known for a tad too much testosterone. So my answer is . . . .

                      Inconclusive.

It's too bad you can not just look at an athlete using PED's and know.
Usually people of group PED know the other members of same group PED without having to be introduced.
This is the Group Properties Theory. (This theory cannot be proven and it cannot be disproven.)
So, we really don't know how pervasive it is in Sports do we?

What would you do if you knew that since the mid 1980's, 50% of all World Records were broken by men and women that have used PED's a least once in their recent career, and since the mid 1990's 75% are dirty.
Or is this far too upsetting to think of.

                          eh ?

2 cocaine users meet for the 1st time at a party

just by chit-chatting about the weather, 1 or both knows the other is a user ?

Here's a real story. Dave is a heroin addict and his clean lovely girlfriend has not a clue. She's never done drugs and is not interested. Dave can go into the bathroom and shoot heroin whenever he feels like it and Deb just don't get it.
One day Deb brings her sister over to meet Dave. Dave had just come out of the toilet from an extended stay and looks up at Sis and kabamm "instant" recognition. Within 12 hours Dave had Sis in the sack and both were getting high. You see Sis was a user too.
When she looked at him like Deb never had, it was a knowing look that was unmistakable. Dave just moved in for the kill and Sis was waiting.

Two cocaine users at a party will know in short time. Let me qualify it. I do not mean a first year flunky. I mean a real solid junkie, a definate user. Like any world record holder that's been on a program for over a year or two.

Brother Eldrick, I'm not joking about this Group Properties Law. It is a stone cold fact.
To illustrate how I might know this:
I used to work with drug addicts in prisons and hospitals and the stories they used to tell me were eye opening.
It's just like you guys seeing all these people that don't have a clue about track and field around you at a meet. But if one person makes one perfect comment in the sea of ignorance, you know that they know.

if you're wasting my time with pinpoint pupils/deviated septums/needle-marks. etc, don't bother

tell me the probability that 2 cocaine-users at a party talking about the weather know each other or 1 is a user

if you want to use a bs theory as your "evidence", what are the probabilities it assigns ?

then tell me why wada wastes $10 million/year on drug-testing if marion has passed every one of 100s of drug tests in her career & why they shoudn't just abandon all testing & just pay the money to a randomly picked, previously convicted drug cheat to go around to all the athletes at a meet & just allow the "witchfinder" to point out the guilty athletes & take that as irrefutable proof of guilt & convict ?

to finish off, you can tell me how 2 epo users at a party know each other are users of epo within minutes by just talking about the weather ?
