If you're a hurdle fan you need to be in Lexington, KY next Saturday, as Coward and Jasmine Stowers clash at the site of Coward's record run last year.

Thomas lost to Coward, but described by an e-mailer to me thusly:

the star of the meet has to be Vashti Thomas (Mt
Pleasant, San Jose). She was 2nd in the hurdles in 8.27 which ranks
      her 3rd a-t, won the LJ in a fine 19-10 3/4 and moved to 4th a-t in
      the TJ at 42-8 3/4.

Perhaps the biggest mark of the weekend belonged to Nadonnia Rodriquez in the 400 - 52.85 - #4 all-time at The Armory yesterday.

Two California HS distance stars got a measure of redemption yesterday.

German Fernandez and Jordan Hasay were favorites but both finished third at Footlocker at Balboa Park, San Diego last Fall. Both won their Junior XC races held in San Diego. One key to Hasay's success might be that she did not go out hard on her own but stayed with the lead group.

Ms. Coward is going to be one busy (and tired) bee next Saturday at Kentucky. Here's her current schedule:

            12:45 PM - 60mHurdles Prelim

            1:15(approx) - 60 Dash Prelim

            2:10 PM - 60 Hurdle Final

            2:20 PM - 60 Dash Final

            2:28 PM - 400 Dash Hot heat(she's in it)

            Whew!

Oops. Never a good idea to chill in the prelims of the 100m Hurdles. You never know what might happen LOL.
