Scott is more focused on winning Big 12 next week, NCAA's indoor and out and finally peaking for Beijing, if he can make the team.

Well Neito just one the meet over in Europe a couple of days ago, and Williams finished well too.

You're right, this isn't the best period for US high jumping - although remember they got 2nd and 4th in Athens.

I have no idea what's happened to Neito, he's a shadow of his 2004 self yet is still competing. However, what the US has really lacked lately is consistency, once the jumper gets to 2.30m. They've been one shot artists. Williams is much better than most in this context, but I don't get the feeling he's going too much higher.

i agree. what is williams PR? i know nieto went 7 8+ but nothin lately and manson is what 7 7 3/4? from like 85-95 was the time of the "high" jumpers i guess. i see the future in scott sellers. very promising i hope

William's PR is 2.33. He has a 2.32 indoor so far.

I think the best US HJers need to compete more in Europe with the top jumpers.
Currently only Williams and Nieto seem willing or able to do that. Why wouldn't a guy like Manson be over in Europe?

Nieto has shown some sign of life lately. Good win in Brno a couple of weeks ago where he beat Tereshin and Ton. But 2.27 (7-5 1/4) is not what he used to jump. But he is going on 32 years and many jumpers slow down a bit when they get into their 30's.

You're looking at feet and decimal fractions of a foot, not feet and inches. .64435696 feet is not the same as 6 1/2 inches.
