How have you missed California Molefe before??

He did win silver at the last WIC 400m...and was a semi-finalist in Osaka last year...

Startlingly consistent runner year-to-year. Check out his SRs for the past few years:

      2007 45.36 Osaka 28/08/2007
      2006 45.36 Melbourne 21/03/2006 & 20/03/2006
      2005 45.34 Helsinki 09/08/2005
      2004 45.84 Braaschaart 07/08/2004
      2003 45.43 Bordeaux 11/06/2003
      2002 45.43 Gaborone 31/03/2002

      more here: http://www.iaaf.org/athletes/biographie ... index.html

he's not the fastest Botswanan over the quarter this year. That honour belongs to Gakologelwang Masheto (47.07)... now that's a mouthful...

GM was the subject of a thread and a note that they used a different name (gh's comment). This came about because he did a WR in the 500.

Why don´t GBR have a women´s relay team entered?

Because Kelly Sotherton is the only British athlete to have run sub-53 seconds indoors this year, that's why.

But surely it´s decided on last ears rankings?

With Maz, Jenny and Kelly already there surely we could have fielded a decent team.

they must have decided not to take up the invite. The womens 400 is relatively weak this year as well.

The only trouble being that the final of the women's 800m is (I think) on the same day as the 4x4. It just can't be done, although I think Meghan Beesley and Hayley Jones (2 very talented juniors) might've produced respectable legs.

Anyway, the men's shot qualifying is about to start in 10 mins. Wonder if Hoffa's brought Cantwell's shot for him ...

Cantwell throws flat in 1st round with 19.25. Miknevich 1st thru by right with 20.58. Automatic qualifying is 20.20m.

                        I'm assuming you guys want a blow-by-blow ...

Hoffa thru easy as pie with 21.49m.

Cantwell makes it on the 2nd putt with 20.91m.

Jennifer Rhines 8th in her 3k heat doesn't go through.

And now Cantwell made the Q with some margin...Rutger Smith is still short of the Q after 2 attempts....6th so far with 19,96.

Defar and Melkamu class above in the 3000 as expected. The best of the rest looked like Komyagina, Augusto and Selsouli. Kim Smith was pretty good, but don't know what kind of sprint she's got.
