I'm not sure which is worse, your orthography or your geography. They're both imperfect.

<Me and my friend Gabe were probably briefly the 2004 World mile leaders with a blazing 5:17.>

Please, not another Gabe thread. If he only ran 5:17, he likely won't make the Olympic team.

I wish I could remember what happened on New Years Eve! Anything that happened after midnight has been erased from my memory!

steve, not to rain on your parade, but i think karl savage was the leader at 1mi at the midnight run last night and he split 4:37, of course that was not around a track (just up a 1/2mi beast of a hill . I'm sure he didn't do it naked though, did you crazy kids?

All of this in 1/2 hour? My undying admiration, Garry. I think that your last one is rakia, the Balkan version of plum brandy.

OK, the only WL I'll try to claim is beer, wine, champagne, scotch, pernod and riakka (sp) in the first half hour of the new year. No mileage from this puppy!

"If I start a race just before midnight and finish it just after, to which year's list does it get added?"

It must be the list made from the paper made from the tree which fell in a forest this year when nobody was present.

I know there are now several races from one year to the next now. I remember running a 5 mile race that started at 15 minutes to twelve PM in Toronto in 1961. The race was put on by The Gladstone Athletic Club which was made up mainly of a group of transplanted Commonwealth runners who had a club like those in England. They had a club house and a track in those days. Gladstone was the first club Bill Crothers joined.

All of you Californians and Floridians, come to central Wisconsin on the New Year to try it! Brrrrr! Even though some idiots (my son and daughter-in-law including) go to the shore of Lake Michigan and jump in.
