Jesse Forbes - and Houston McTear
The very nice tribute to Jesse Forbes has one significant error. Forbes's 9.6 was not the State record in the 100 Yard Dash at the time Florida switched to meters. Houston McTear, of course, ran his famous 9.0 at the Florida State meet in 1975. Hand timed, yes - like Forbes's 9.6.

Jesse Forbes A Coaching Legend In Tallahassee
That's the headline of front page article . . . of only minor interest to most of y'all, but our track team went over to Tallahassee to his meet several weeks back and it definitely had an old-time feel to it. Lots of fun and incredible depth of sprinting as befits his legacy. This is how HS track should be - not the antiseptic huge invitationals that it was evolved into. Just thought I'd highlight him here today . . .
