With any improvement he could make the Final of the OT and then anything can happen with 3 places up for grabs.

The wind was 1.6, while X has 10.15/2.0

They are both 10.25 basic (not much elevation in Florida, even 'inland').

Still pretty good for a high school kid. Maybe a future Olympian, 2012 vintage.

It would be great if all the top HS sprinters could meet somewhere this spring.
Competition is what it is all about!

I have several kids competing, but for the first time in many years, I'm not attending. Tomorrow is my 33rd Wedding Anniversary (yes, it was an arranged marriage at age 4) and I am WAAAY too smart to try to go down there. Too bad though; sounds like a great meet.

Oh Football. What a terrible terrible waste of football potential. We can only hope he fumbles a few times and finds his way back to the track.

Ran in opposite direction to take advantage of wind. Second place not too shabby.

Yeah, hopefully he can't catch or play too well. Only a few UF footballers are competing for UF. The 'speedsters'., Brandon James, Percy Harvin ran at SEC's last year and haven't run since.

After seeing the HS kid's time, I checked T&FN HS record list.

Is J-mee Samuels' 10.08 100% legit? If I can recall, I remember him around that time 2-3 times in local-type meets. Could be wrong.

With his 10.27 at Fl. State, he's been a little ways away from that HS time.

Yes. Checked out old dyestat article see below
                      http://www.dyestat.com/3archive/page1-05july29.htm

He also had windy 10.07 at Great Southwest and 20.32 200 that year. Great year for him.

                      J-Mee Samuels breaks 100m record with 10.08 +0.7
GREENSBORO NC 7/24/05 - At the Russell Blunt East Coast Invitational age group meet on the North Carolina A&T track, Arkansas recruit J-Mee Samuels, of Mt. Tabor NC, broke the national high school record in the 100 meters by winning in 10.08 +0.7. Earlier, he had run a barely windy 10.05 (+2.1) in a heat. The old record (see Track and Field News) was 10.13 by Derrick Florence of Galveston TX in 1986.

Brittney Reese's winning mark in lj was windy, but had anotther legal (1.5) mark of 6.63, which is collegiate leader.

His HSR has definitely come under discussion, like in this thread from last summer

                          http://mb.trackandfieldnews.com/discuss ... hp?t=26911

one of my contributions there was this:

<<the gist of it is that Samuels ran 10.07w as a junior in Greensboro, North Carolina, 10.05w/10.08 as a senior in Greensboro (same meet) and a 10.08(A)w as a senior in Albuquerque.

Other than that he ran 10.20 as a senior, and 10.22 as a best in two years of college. Doesn't quite compute.>>

He has still never broken 10.20 anywhere but that one race (with legal wind).

Like everyone else, I've been disappointed by his college career thus far, but I must say that at the NCAA indoor meet in Fayetteville, I thought he was running better than he ever had as a collegian. I would not be surprised if we saw a marked improvement in his 100m PR this spring.

Did "X-Man" run any other races? I don't expect relay splits & I know that 4x400 was cancelled.

On Friday a team called "Gainesville Elite" was DQed in 4x200. On Saturday "Gainesville Elite" won 4x100 in a decent time of 39.40.

Did "X-Man" run either of these relays? If anyone saw these relays did he run well?

                              Thanks
