It seems the athletes were not that impressed with the road part of the Olympic course

Do they intend to cover the concrete with asphalt before the Games?

probably just bad translation, but I loved the quote from one of the Chinese walkers....

"Wow, what a thrill to run into the stadium, which is going to host the Olympics in August," said Wang, one of China's elite race walkers, from Inner Mongolia.

On 14 March 2008 the T&FN Forum included this post:
Beijing will test its Olympic facilities and procedures with the “China Athletics Open,” a four-day meet (22-25 May 2008) that includes all the Games stadium events. This eight-session meet, four mornings and four evenings, includes qualifying rounds though not as many as the Games in August. The May meet is an opportunity to compete at the Olympic venue with conditions similar to the Games, a near-Olympic experience."

Travel and housing costs were reasonable when the above item was posted seven weeks before the April 22 deadline for entry and housing reservations. More at http://mb.trackandfieldnews.com/disc...c.php?p=437520

                    Good Luck Entering

The Good Luck marathon was a few weeks ago. The official line was that athletes had to be entered by their NGB. The Hong Kong AAA wasn't interested, so a few local runners tried contacting the organizers directly. (It helps to speak Chinese, of course.) They were accepted, ran, and had a great experience.

Of course, they might not be so flexible for a track meet.

Or how about a map of that course?
