      One of the races to watch when the meet proper kicks off in a few hours will be aspiring Olympian Nicole Leach's 400H season debut. She has already run a few relay legs and did a 2:09 half mile, so it will be interesting to see what kind of hurdling shape she is in. She'll have a strong competitor in USC's Shalina Clarke (57.x, SB).

        It would appear as if I'm the only one interested in the nation's premier dual meet... But here goes;

        MEN: UCLA 89, USC 74
        Highlights:
        Craddock PR 13.46 (+1.3) (#2 ncaa) - blows away top 10 guys Kelley and Taylor
        Lionel Larry 45.04 (#2 ncaa) and 20.65 (#7 ncaa) and anchored both winning relays
        Ahmad Rashad -- comes off injury for season debut of 10.26 (+0.3) and 20.97
        Kai Kelley 400H 50.19 (#7 ncaa)

        Women: USC 86, UCLA 77
        Nicole Leach -- season debut in 400H -- 55.37(#2 ncaa), 400- 51.69 (#2 in NCAA)+ two relays
        Carol Rodriguez -- 400 -- 51.39 (#1 NCAA)
        USC 4x1 -- 44.07 (#4 team in ncaa)
        USC 4x4 -- 3:31.85 (#3 team in ncaa)

          UCLA junior Nicole Leach competed in four events - the 400m, 400m hurdles, 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay. She ran the leadoff leg of the Bruins 4x100m relay (45.72) to start the day off. Then in the 400m, Leach ran the No. 2 time in the nation this season with a lifetime-best and regional qualifying mark of 51.69 to finish second. That mark also ranks fourth all-time in UCLA school history. Shortly after, Leach took to the track again to easily win the 400m hurdles with the No. 2 time in the U.S. this season (55.37) as she set a new National Dual Meet Record in the event. She wrapped up her day by anchoring the Bruin women to a season-best 4x400m relay time of 3:34.40.

              One of the more remarkable aspects of this meet was that it marked the first dual-meet loss of the Jeanette Bolden era at UCLA.

              Despite the fact that the collegiate dual meet is practically extinct, it is pretty amazing to think that prior to this meet, Bolden's Bruins had never lost and were 73-0 over 14 years.
