Alas, Lunn developed a hip injury in recent weeks that made it impossible for him to run. He worked with a chiropractor, a physical therapist, a massage therapist and a doctor, sometimes all four the same day. He averaged more than two hours a day cross-training on the elliptical machine and in the pool. He had a cortisone injection.
"Coach, the doctor and I discussed the possibilities of continuing the season, and unfortunately it's no longer a reality for me," Lunn said Monday.
