It may have passed him by already. He's only improved 5cm since his freshman year and he's more likely to NH or jump 5.40 than 5.70+.

That would be a shame given his natural talent. Of course, didn't Hooker take a while to live up to his potential?

Not sure the evidence stacks up for your claim. Here's Hooker's career progression (season bests - he was born July 16, 1982)):

        2007 5.91 Perth 07/01/2007 (9th WC, 3rd WAF)
        2006 5.96 Berlin 03/09/2006 (1st World Cup, 1st Comm Games, 4th WAF)
        2005 5.87 Melbourne 12/03/2005 (dnq @ WC)
        2004 5.65 Perth 22/02/2004 (dnq @ OG)
        2003 5.10 Daegu 28/08/2003

Paul Burgess is probably closer to what I was thinking. he seemed to have stalled at 5.70 for breaking through

That analogy with Skipper does work a whole lot better... particularly as Burgess jumped that 5.40 as a 17 year old and only improved 35 cm in the next 6 years...

              Skipper went 5.75 as a 19 yo (and 5.37at 17) but has only added 5cm since (he's now 23.5)

Any ideas on how serious the injury to Perry is? Reports say its her left leg which isn't her lead leg when hurdling. I assume that's a better scenario? Any hurdlers out there have an opinion?

Cherry is smoking early this season with 12.47.

A LetsRun Thread had a link to pictures and she did not just pull up from feeling a twinge, but did a bit of the 'jump in the air' thing (although not as bad as some that I have seen). Still, it is a little hard to tell from a sequence of still shots.

She walked off which was a good sign. Her camp says she's is ok with some hammy pain but will be back shortly. She was out fast and obviously fit.

Where was Toby Stevenson? Didn't he jump 6 meters at this meet in 2004? The rivalry between him and Tim Mack in Greece didn't have legs, did it? Mack has been hurt a lot. How about Toby?
