  • Excited About Olympic Trials?

As the Olympic Trials loom on the immediate horizon and in light of the most recent drug-related revelations, what is your excitement level?

I have to admit while I am hopeful of enjoying this best of all domestic meets, I also admit that I will be somewhat unwilling to give myself over to fully embracing the performances, as I think my experience of having cheered for the likes of Kellie White and Marion Jones and Maurice Greene have left me feeling foolish.

On a scale where 10 is the most excited, I'm about a 13.

C'mon! The Trials are do-or-die! The thrill of third place. The agony of da fourth! Some events will have had better fields than the Beijing finals.

And if 1 of 1,000 athletes later tests positive, well that sucks. But U can't allow such doubts to spoil your appreciation for the 999 who kick butt.

    Just my $.03 worth.

I am not a happy camper! Even the Depends I have wear now get soaked through every time I start to think about going to Hayward Field for the OT.

I see my recent post has been deleted. Seems rather gratuitous, actually. On the general subject of "how's the state of the sport?" there's hardly anything left that one is permitted to say here.

I am with Ken...and hopefully not seated anywhere near Marlow.

Forget all the drug stuff and just enjoy the competition, the drama and the
atmostsphere...unless you get a whiff of urine.....

I only get to see four days of it but I can't wait! 8) 8)

As always, I'm more eagerly awaiting the OT than I am the OG. Gotta be my favorite meet ever, although I hasten to clarify that a huge part of that is being able to spend 10 days doing nothing but all track all the time, and in the company of some of my best friends.

Even the lamented '80 Trials was a week I'll long cherish.

Quite excited! Having them in one's own backyard is a dream come true! No vacation this year. Just the trials, baby!

Will the trials be on WCSN? Can't seem to access their site at the moment.

I'll be more excited when the tickets finally arrive. But the season is really shaping up pretty damn well. Did Allison have a nice day in the desert. Ditto the Trafton Salinas/Modesto double (I managed to miss Brown's marriage, so who is this new person?). In my wheelhouse, the heptahlon is shaping up pretty well for the US. Johnson got a monter PR at Pac 10, Diana missed hers by 15 and Fountain's 12.98 100H would be a huge chunk of points. Life is good. Now if the "stimulus" check would arrive, I could pay off most of next year's WC tix

Oh yeah, I'm excited about the trials.

That's getting into Cordner Nelson territory  This will be my 7th (if you count '80).
