A bit like Bekele, I feel like she got over the problems that affected her in the African Champs PDQ. What, 2/3 weeks ago neither were fit/ready and now they're going for WRs?
Wait! I've figured this all out. Doesn't help Bekele with his rabbiting needs, but Defar can go off at same time as Bekele, and use HIM as her rabbit! :-)
I have just decided that i will also attempt a world record at the meet and i would encourage every one in Eugene to do the same except Garry Hill who will need his rest so he can publish all the world records in the next Track and Field News.

Ever heard of Marketing?
Well, I studied it on my management course, but it was never my best subject ...
Is the Prefontaine meeting going to be on US TV or (hopefully for the rest of us) the 'net?
Walter will know plans better than I, but I would posit that unless there's a WR, neither race will make the show (or, at best, we'll get the last 5 meters).
That could be tricky, inasmuch as it's a live telecast. I suppose what they could do is start the 10,000m before the show goes on the air, and have it timed so that they'll show a lap or two, go to commercial, and then come back for the last lap or two. But then they'll still have the entire 5,000 in the tv window. Again, they can minimize the exposure of that race by cutting away for field event coverage and commercials.
There's no way that tv is going to show the major portions of those races. But I have to believe they'll do more than the last 5 meters.
It's a "live telecast" in name, but let's face it: we know that a significant portion of the show is surely going to be taken up with "up close and personal" kaka. They'll have no trouble finding a pre-programmed window into which they could throw earlier race action if they so chose. What's that you said? Slim went where?
The catch is that the meet is advertised as being 2 1/2 hour--12:30 to 3, local time. That limits the amount of "earlier race action" that there can be. Both of those races cannot be in that half hour before the tv window. Some of that stuff has to be going on while they're on the air. No doubt, there will be lots or pre-recorded kaka. But I think they can (and I hope will) do it in a way that reflects the fact that those races are going on live. Cutting away for the kaka and for commercials is what I assume they'll do.
NBCOlympics.com? The NBC team will already be there, and this is the same site that showed the Oly Trials Marathons and I believe either NY or Boston as well.
