    What's Up With X?

If X was hurting as bad as they say he was I would shut it down and get ready for the world championship season next year. IN THE 400M!!!! You may feel the heat from Nike, but a athlete like X can bounce back if he stays focus and Holloway make the right calls.
Thanks for the info. I agree 100% & add that Michael Johnson was injured in 1988 & 1989, but was AOY in 1990. I admit that circumstances aren't identical, but I hope that he bounces back -- in 2008 or 2009.

Not sure if Holloway is the right coach for X. His system of training is VASTLY different from Shaver's. ALthough I must say 10.00 and 44.70 are very impressive, i just think Shaver knows X and his capabilites more.

I understand why he had to leave BR though.

I completely agree and I posted pretty much what you are saying in another thread recently.

I don't know anything. Does anyone know about his injury?

Last year, his 200 injury at nationals was on his web site the same day & one month later, his entry for London & Stockholm was mentioned. The last posting there was after his 44.70.

Does anyone know about his future racing plans?

Also, all top U.S. sprinters are ENTERED or have competeted in at least one post - OT meet except for X & Dix.

Dix is the only U.S. man who could win 3 medals. His chances are slim in the 100, good in the 200 & excellent in the 4x100. Will he run the latter in London?

          IF anyone knows, thanks.

I don't know what's up, but I think that the fact that X hasn't competed since the Trials creates a pretty strong inference that he's really hurt. Either he can't run, or he's sensible enough to realize that the best way for him to get back to being his best is to give it a rest this summer, rather than risking aggravating his condition by running now.

Exactly. The man has a chipped bone/stress fracture. No reason to risk it.

What's so difficult about that one Gleason?

Last I heard he was done for the season and expected to get an operation. I think that's a good choice. Get ready for the World Championship season. I know Nike may not be happy, but that's the world of track and field.

Reliable source: X is scheduled to have surgery next week to remove 3 bone fragments & to smooth out a bone spur. Originally he hurt the ankle playing football. He is done for the season & will be out 6 to 8 weeks for recovery.

I hope 400H prodigy Jeshua Anderson (who also plays football) reads that.

I agree 100%. In 2007 X's web site had information. In 2008 nothing.

I appreciate the information from "texas-speed" & subsequent postings.
