  • Marshevet Hooker

In the Muna Lee thread folks got to bringing up Hooker so I figured she might as well get her own thread too.

Looks like Drummond is really helping her and she's entered on the USATF site as being qualified for the 100 and 200. I wonder if she's planning on running both at Trials.

I think she could be a force over time in the 200. Her PR was run out of lane 1 at adidas when she wasn't even planning on running it (she got in the race late because she FS in the 100).

I think she's just hitting the tip of the iceberg with her talent and her 10.94 kind of served noticed she can be for real when healthy.

How long has Hooker been with Drummond?

And to imagine that eldrick wrote Drummond off as a novice coach. Sometimes (and this is not ALWAYS), if you:ve been there and done that, you can help others with technical issues they may never have imagined. For Gay, it was his start.

Since the end of last summer. AFTER Trials she switched to him from Bev.

Looks like its paying dividends. She looks a different athlete technically she is much stronger.

Texas_speed, just curious but are you in some capacity involved with Drummond's camp? Even besides the info. provided in recent articles such as this one on Hooker, you seem to be very pro JD(not there would be reason not to be, that is) possess some knowledge about who JD is working with, when they got there, etc.- as in the Tyson Gay thread I started. Thanks.

                LOL.

Not in the least. I just follow the sport closely and it so happens that my favorite athletes are Texas Exes (Richards and Hooker) as well as Gay so I follow them. I've also always been a big LSU fan so I follow Muna, Lolo & Durst, X, etc relatively closely as well.

Everything I discuss is common knowledge, sometimes you just have to dig around a little more or listen a little harder to find it. I'm more interested in what athletes do to prepare (i.e. coaches, training methods, etc.) so that's what I listen for in interviews as opposed to hoping someone will guarantee a victory or something like that.

As far as JD in particular, I've heard Gay and Hooker mention him just about everytime they are interviewed, similar to Sanya mentioning Hart. From there its just research...the USATF website, even though its often outdated, tells who coaches who and their agents and things of that nature. So that's where alot of my info comes from. Plus I post a lot more regularly on another message board and there's a lot of folks "in the know" on there as well.

No insider stuff on my end unfortunately.
