Eddy Hellebuyck is the # 5 seed for the Men Marathon Trials next month. He's the best shot an over 40 competitor has.

I had dinner with Eddy and his then girl friend, now wife, about 10 years ago when he was here in Indy to run the 13.1 mile "MiniMarathon" as we call it; I was his "host" that got him to hotel, etc. as he was an invited runner. A real good guy !! I'll be rooting for him to prove me wrong on my prediction of no 40+ Olympians. I would agree that he's got the best chance.

One of the fogey marathoners might do it, but only because the U.S. sucks so badly in the event.

I agree Eddy Hellebuyck has a great chance to make our 3-man team, but he still comes up short as his qualifying time is only 2:12:47, and the O.G. "A" standard is 2:12:00. Regina Jacobs has a much better shot, pending the investigation into her alleged THG usage.

Check again. The Oly A standards have changed in the marathon. He already has an A standard, just needs to make the team.

There's the other reason a plus-40 marathoner might make it. The IAAF for some reason has decided to give free passes to marathoners who aren't truly world class. The new standards are an insult to real athletes in all other events who have to move heaven and earth to get an A standard. Pha!

She admit that she took the drug. Jacobs is the female version of Ben Johnson.

Anything is possible. Merlene Ottey Made the 2000 Team at 40 Years old. She is still competing and next season she'll be 44 years old.

Ottey wasn't trying to make the U.S. team.

Colleen de Reuck maybe (wouldn't MAKE the team at 40, unless on the track in 10K). Turns 40 in April

Given the state of US DT, is it possible that Wilkens or Powell could make the B q and make the team. Oerter almost made the the non team in '80.
