Re: does anyone think any 40&older runners might make 04-tea
I had dinner with Eddy and his then girl friend, now wife, about 10 years ago when he was here in Indy to run the 13.1 mile "MiniMarathon" as we call it; I was his "host" that got him to hotel, etc. as he was an invited runner. A real good guy !! I'll be rooting for him to prove me wrong on my prediction of no 40+ Olympians. I would agree that he's got the best chance.

I agree Eddy Hellebuyck has a great chance to make our 3-man team, but he still comes up short as his qualifying time is only 2:12:47, and the O.G. "A" standard is 2:12:00. Regina Jacobs has a much better shot, pending the investigation into her alleged THG usage.

There's the other reason a plus-40 marathoner might make it. The IAAF for some reason has decided to give free passes to marathoners who aren't truly world class. The new standards are an insult to real athletes in all other events who have to move heaven and earth to get an A standard. Pha!

She admit that she took the drug. Jacobs is the female version of Ben Johnson.
