I don't think a conspiracy theory makes sense. Liu is one of Nike's high profile track athletes. If he had an injury and told them he couldn't run, surely they wouldn't want to risk the olympics and would say "no problem, Liu. See you in Beijing." That way they could add another high profile athlete to the race and the spectators, Nike, Liu, and anyone else who cares would be happy.

I was not defending insults....I was pointing out the fact that an assertion regarding insults was simply not true...You have now changed the subject, ostensibly because you had nothing of value to add...I might add that all your eye-rolling emoticon usage is also potentially insulting to people....and if we follow your argument, then we can conclude that your usage of the aforementioned emoticons is symptomatic of intellectual bankruptcy...I'm not asserting that it is....I'm telling you what your assertion means....

Eye-rolling indicates bemusement on my part. See the little smile on the guy right at the end?

Here is one more problem with your assertion.
Insult: an offensive action or remark.
Well, if I tell you that you are wrong, you may find this offensive, and thereby perceive it as an insult, and this is not necessarily a reflection of intellectual bankruptcy on my part. It may indeed be just the antithesis.

This is my idea of intellectually bankrupt insults:

Well, if somebody does not read very well, and Aiden obviously does not, then it is futile to engage in intellectual discourse with him....However it may be helpful to Aiden if it triggers more scrutiny in his reading of other posts before he chimes in with comments symptomatic of a lack of comprehension...Marlow, apparently you can relate better to Aiden because he is more on your level.

As I wrote several hours ago

<<I'm not, and several people here are begging to go on a summer vacation which would have them missing the Trials.>>

Since neither Marlow nor zzbottom seemed to think I was serious, enjoy the next week off. I'm not quite pissed off enough to bar you from the Trials, but please, do test me again.

I do not mind that the disqualification occured because if someone is hurt, why risk the chance of making it worse. Now, use the time to heal and be ready in August.

Possible, although I would have thought he would need to hit Europe at some point before the games.

I suspect, Liu's injury is more significant than what we were told. The concern on his face was obvious. He might be in trouble for the Games.

That's the way I read it too. I hope this is not the case.

I did not see the race, so cannot comment. I wonder if he has been overtraining, you can understand why he would push to the limit.
