so what was the winning height? this thread says 2.30 the iaaf website says 2.31 and the pre website jump off says 2.35. anyone?

Official results were screwed up.

Silnov and Harris missed three times at 2.35 and were tied, so they took a fourth jump at 2.35. Both missed.

Bar down to 2.33---both missed.

Bar down to 2.31--Harris missed, Silnov made.

End of competition and Silnov's official height is 2.31.

Does that mean that they were using a 5cm increment? That is pretty big at the elevated range.

The whole competition (pre-jumpoff, which has rules of its own), all the increments were 5cm.

How did Thomas look? Was Silnov impressive? No Manson?
