I looked at the T&FNews rankings and these is something stunning there. The Big Ten is project to have seven teams scoring about 100 points. On the mens side, the expected placings are one 7th and three 8ths for a total of five points (less than 1% of the total), a value equaled or exceeded by 50 teams, including such powerhouses as Bethune-Cookman, Cornell, TX A&M Corpus Christi, Cal State Northridge, and LaSalle. Furthermore, powerhouses such as Wisconsin, Michigan (Michigan, Michigan State and E. Michigan have a combined zero athletes in the top ten across the 21 events) and Ohio State are listed for zero points.
Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio, ... but I guess even he was a west coast/east coast guy.
