  • Wisconsin: Men's XC&Middle distance coach[Now Official]

I am still not certain about this announcement, there is nothing official from UW. [http://www.uwbadgers.com]. It is conceivable that someone has created a 'troll' position by logging on to the NCAA site.

I guess this moves up a notch from rumor, as this is on the NCAA career center site.

Assist the Head Coach of a Division I Track and Field program in accordance with NCAA and University regulations. This position will coach the Men's Cross Country and middle distance and distance runners during track season. This position will also have responsibility for administrative duties, practice, conditioning, recruiting, scouting, summer camps/clinics, public relations and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

Interested parties should email a resume and cover letter by July 8 to [email protected] or mail it to Nancy Graff Schultz, Kellner Hall, 1440 Monroe Street, Madison, WI 53711

Unless confidentiality is requested in writing, information regarding the names of applicants must be released upon request. Finalists cannot be guaranteed confidentiality. UW-Madison is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. We promote excellence through diversity and encourage all qualified individuals to apply.

There have been rumors that Jerry will be doing professional coaching/paid by Nike out in the Portland area with his current Madison crew. I do not know if this is correct but it could well be. The timing on this (Tuesday) was what was indicated on a LR post on the topic and I think connected to the Portland-area gig.

UW Athletics: Schumacher to leave for Nike
        ANDY BAGGOT [email protected]

Wisconsin is in the market for a new men's cross country coach and track assistant after Jerry Schumacher accepted a newly created job at Nike.

UW men's track coach Ed Nuttycombe confirmed the move Tuesday afternoon, saying Schumacher had been swayed by a once-in-a-lifetime offer from the footwear and apparel giant.

It appears as if Salazar sees Schumacher as his eventual successor, and that Alberto is going to, perhaps partly due to health concerns, gradually lessen his role over the next few years.

Note that over the last two years Wisconsin has done both the Dellinger XC race and the Oregon spring meet, helping the overall quality of both meets.
