I just found this out and confirmed by USAT&F:
All those athletes that have a "provisional" qualification mark for the trials which is the majority, will be given a "pending" status. So they will not be confirmed to be in the Trials until just over 48 hours before their event!.
I should have looked at the words following the asterisk on the USAT&F's website:
* - subject to the Qualifying Guidelines, entry process, and declaration process. If the "B" standard is used, only the number of athletes needed to make the event competitive will be included. These athletes must declare, and they may be invited for inclusion only after the close of declarations.
So in my case I have to wait until 12.01am July 2nd, 2008 to find out if I may be invited for inclusion in the competition on July 4th!
Is it just me or does this seem absolutely ridiculous?
