  • galen rupp 10th?-no way!

Really surprised that Galen is ranked 10th in the latest T&FN 10K predictions for the OT. Wasn't he in the top 3 last year? Didn't he just run a 3:43 1500 tuneup at the Jerome Classic yesterday? Isn't the OT on his home turf with 16,000 screaming fans?

    what gives?

      2)Riley 7:51:40
      3)Rohatinsky 7:52.83

So Rohatinsky is 6th and Galen is 10th in the 10K formchart?
      Makes sense to me.

Oh and he ran a 3;43.33 1500 yesterday.

So why no love for Galen? :?

Not a PR for Rupp; ran 7:49.16 back in '05.

          Guess I shouldn't believe everything I read without checking...ops:
          ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Josh Rohatinsky, Galen Rupp and Jonathan Riley engaged in a terrific men's 3,000m tussle that saw all three competitors with the lead during the bell lap. Rohatinsky, who had the lead with two laps remaining, held on to the top spot until he was passed with 300 meters to go when Riley surged past him for the lead. Riley came around the final turn just ahead of 2007 NCAA and USA 10,000m second place finisher Rupp, who sailed past Riley with 30 meters remaining and held on to finish first in the fastest clocking by an American this outdoor season and a new personal best time of 7 minutes 51.17 seconds. Riley was the runner-up in 7:51.40, with Rohatinsky third in 7:52.83.

Hmm..., I see Galen has declared for the 5K, has not yet declared for the 10K.
Interesting development.- Is he running the 5K, the 10K or both?

Maybe he is won over by T&FN and wants to be part of the greatest race -- but I think that being part of it would be the limit. However, if the 10,000 is first, not a problem.

Just because an athlete declares for a race, at the Trials, doesn't mean they will run. No ncaa or honest effort rules.

i do suspect rupp will be better than 10th, but like webb, we don't know exactly his form...

looks like a warm spell in eugene, at least relatively, so it's not gonna be mid 50s, but probably high 60's...

we shall see who drives the race the 1st 5k, will anyone. or will it tuen into a 5k race...

So why do athletes declare at the last minute or struggle with indecision in some cases? If I'm understanding you correctly there's no reason to not declare in anything and everything you MIGHT run, throw, or jump in way in advance?

Never count a Vinnie athlete out. They know how to race and how to close.

Question is, how much a "Vinnie" and how much an "Alberto"--? And does it matter?

Just helping build the anticipation a little... :]
