  • Advice?

So, I'm doing the last 4 days. I've gathered that:

The food stinks and the lines are long.
There are long lines to refill your water.
Park at the football field (or the high school).
You can buy a beer at the Fest but can't bring it in.

Any other revelations or advice from those who are there?
(other than the advice to come for all 10 days so I could've seen that 800 meters in person)

The hotdogs are not bad and at $3, the least overpriced .

I'm wondering if ear plugs might not be a bad call. It sounds LOUD.

Food: haven't bought any, so cannot comment.

Water: The line on the south end of the west grandstand where your seats are is not bad, and it is getting cooler so there will not be as much demand.

Parking: if you cannot walk from your hotel then parking at Autzen Stadium leaves you either a shuttle ride or a very nice mile or so walk over the Willamette river to the meet.

Beer: buy it at the hot dog/hamburger stand right behind your seats. Short lines every time I've imbibed. I'd suggest the Drop Top ale.

Other: For those of us not so fortunate as to be in the front row, but rather buried in the stands somewhere, prepare not to leave your seat once things get going if at all possible. At least in the west grandstands we are packed in tighter that sardines, and getting in and out when everyone is there is quite challenging. Although I've had some very close encounters with some rather nice looking women because of it . . .

Oh, and as Daisy mentions - earplugs can be your best friend. I forgot mine on Saturday and my ears are still ringing.

I know, I know... work. But strangely enough, it was track based. I was producing a commercial for the olympics with many track athletes...

Workwise, I probably shouldn't come for the even last 4 days, but, come on...work ain't everything.

Fill your water bottle up in the bathroom.

I saw people doing that anyway, seems like a good way to avoid the lines.

Bring one of theos stadium seat things. My back is still bothering me.

The food is not bad. Go to to the Greek stand and get a lamb, beef or chicken wrap. very good and only 6.00. The lines are not too bad until about 4pm and then it is really only the ice cram ones that are bad.

Smile and thank the wonderful volunteers too.

And it's even easier if you're a guy

                    Thanks all.

I'll be the 6'5" guy in the front row standing up at all sorts of inappropriate times.

(actually, I'll try not to, but I am 6'5")

I'm sure the guy behind you will be looking back fondly on the first four days . . .
