Kind of disappointing that she and Babcock didn't land in the same prelim, but I agree it will be a fun event to watch.

She apparently has firm plans to go to Poland with Team USA for the World Juniors shortly after her 1500 prelim regardless of the outcome. BUT... what if she runs something ridiculous like a 4:05 and qualifies for the next round??? I wonder if they'd change their minds about leaving Eugene?

Since she has no plans to run the next round even if she qualifies, isn't it selfish to take up a spot someone else could have?

Not really, because she did earn it, and she is getting valuable experience for the future.

In addition to guru's observation, it's also worth noting that it wasn't her call - USATF would not permit her to run the semis, requiring that she travel to Chicago tomorrow.

None of the wacki stuff, but I have been hanging out with this French fellow Christian Vanneque ( http://old.thejakartapost.com/weekender/4dinner.asp ) way too much.
He also lives in Bali and he's always got the wackiest grape juice.

Wish the kid all the luck in the world, but she should really skp the finals and head to the Juniors on a high note. None of the high schoolers has been able to perform well after their one supreme effort and Jordan gave her all in the semis.

Looks like she is have a good time, and the crowd loves her. That probably counts for something.

Even if she were to crash and burn in the final, that experience would be far superior to a victory in Poland. She is the darling of this meet. USATF used remarkable foresight (for them - a gratuitous slap in the face for which I apologize, but after the Goucher affair, they are an easy target) in letting her stay. This is a great story and we need more like this.
