Rule of thumb for letsrun: If it's on the home page, it's good; if it's in the forum, it's probably a 'joke.'

Lets use a little logical. At this time of the year where would Webb get the opportunity to run such a time. I don't think he has gone to Austrialia this winter, and the chances of running that time indoors are slim.

That time would be so good it would almost be an indoor American Record. I have to admit, it has been so long since that mark was set I had to actually look it up. So--no peeking!--who holds the AR and how fast is it?

You don't have to look it up because it must be Steve Scott. Who else would it be. I guessing Scott ran something like a 3:51 indoors in the early to mid 80's.

I did not see that mentioned on Letsrun. Letsrun is the drudgereport for track and field news.

I would say it has to be between 3:50.5 and 3:51.5

just off the top of my had I'd have to say
3:51.8 Steve Scott (Sub-4 TC) San Diego, California 2/20/81 ;-)

I read on Letrun that the Ivy League was going to Division III. Must be true since TAFR* picked up the story and reprinted it.

Not as good as the 3:32.99 mile Webb's going to run this summer. Other than possibly Gabe, nobody will go faster.

I hope we don't start this argument again, but I'm with you, No Name.

I assume you meant 1500, otherwise you were being sarcastic and I missed it.
