We Could Sure Use A Hot, TV-Friendly Olympic Matchup
Re: We Could Sure Use A Hot, TV-Friendly Olympic Matchup
How bout Kenteris vs US reps over 200 ... Host country vs the United States ... Possible rematch of Kenteris and Capel from 2000 ... Possible match up of Kenteris and Gatlin - everyones new poster boy for the long sprints ...

Not exactly true - the Mexican team ran a solid 3:28.23 in 2003 and they've been improving... We may well see them in the final in Athens - but they're not likely to be close enough to the US team for the matchup to be exciting.

How about Marion vs Kotova & Barber in the LJ? (Maggi too, if she wins her appeal). 7 meter performers, a US contestant. US TV would eat it up (except it takes more than 2 minutes).

Relays will have a bit more meaning in the weeks leading up to the OG this year, what with the field's being restricted to top 16 teams. Mexico's currently at No. 10, but the No. 16 nation is at 3:29.65, so there's lots of nations bunched together there.
