  • Performance of the meet for the USA?

    Flanagan's AR 10K, 13th alltime performer, 17th alltime performance? Either 4x400? Taylor's 400H, 9th alltime performer, 12th fastest alltime performance? Merritt's 400, 5th performer, =17th performance? Clay, 6th performer, =10th performance?

In the Olympic Games, records mean nothing IMO. It's all about the championships won, the medals (especially the gold medals). I'd have to give the honor to the Brown-Trafton, W discus champion.

Oops, forgot about that one and that's probably the winner.

I agree, Flanagan was awesome also.

Neville getting the Bronze. No other American athlete displayed this much Gritt which is normally generic to persons wearing vests marked "USA."

Wow, what drug-testing does to some events. Brown-Trafton's mark was 64.74m. The last mark pela lists is 68.00, which is 522nd (that's right, 5-2-2) on the alltime performance list.

Last year, 64.87 was 10th on the annual women's discus list.

I don't know, I think Flanagan may get the nod from me, but then I'm a distance fan.

I'm a huge distance fan as well and the discus may be my least favorite event in track and field but would still say it's Brown-Trafton. From 3rd in the Trials to Gold trumps a bronze.

Performance of the meet: M4x400, 2nd AT W (following the strip of the Uniontown mark), individual: Taylor 47.25.

Suprise of the meet Brown-Trafton. Nothing else in the same zip code.

An elegant and simple exercise, and our thanks to mcgato. The conclusions are fairly obvious to everyone. And yes, Brown-Trafton's victory has to be the high point for USA. When, if ever, will such a victory be repeated?

USAPOYs for me were (in order):

                        Taylor
                        Trafton

                          Ill rate them:

                          m400H sweep
                          Trafton
                          both 4x4s
                          Clay
Flanagan (because it was to me so freaking improbable)
m400 sweep (Wariner antics devalue this one)
