  • Thank you All!!!

Well I feel a little bit lost today... Olympic Track and Field over for another 4 years.

However I would like to thank you all for making it so enjoyable.

It makes watching the events so much more fun, when you can banter with the guys on here and get information/stats from the many knowledgable people on this board!!

From the shortest event (Bolt) to the longest event we saw many stunning performances!!!

Roll on the world champs ;-)

I have nothing to add and I totally agree with you.

I largely agree with knockout. My regret on these boards is that our patience and civility often fall short of our enthusiasm. But it's a imperfect world ... .

What they said. Thank you everyone. I have learned so much that it's nearly funny.

Will miss it, too, even though these Games were among my least favorite ever. Still, nothing track-wise tops the OGs.

I'll take WCs over OG (cause I get to go to the latter ). But these games certainly had some very special moments. Is it Berlin yet :?:

              Historic Olympics

I was convinced I would never see an Olympics where the men's 100 and 200 would both have world records by the same athlete. And to have him be a part of a world record obliteration of the 4 by 100 is utterly amazing! I am pretty sure my son, age 9, won't see it again, but who knows the future?

Usain Bolt deserves all the glory he has earned. Is Bud Greenspan in the house?

Mamo, what I love about the Olympics is that they inspire young kids to try and do what they saw amazing people like Usain Bolt do. Seb Coe & Roger Black inspired me to take up athletics, and there's a few members of the British team in Beijing who were directly inspired by Michael Johnson in Atlanta (thank you Michael!).

What Usain Bolt's done is the equivalent of scoring the winning hat-trick at the football World Cup, or whatever the equivalent is in baseball or American Football.

That inspiration is why I love the Games so much. There've been so many dramas, upsets and just great races over the past 16 days it's been so much fun. You might get better performances at the Worlds, but there is something magical about the Games that can't be matched IMO.

                  agreed!

my friends, family, work colleagues don't give a damn about the women's 50,000-meter walk ... well, neither do i ... but every other event, it was great having such a high level of dialogue and analysis here.

Could that be because there is no such event at the OG? 8-)
