Married a T&F Athlete

[5k Guy]

How many of you married another T&F athlete?

I met my wife as a freshman in college at our first cross country practice. We dated all four years, got married the summer after graduation and have been married for 12 years since (two kids so far).

Its very nice to watch the WC, Olys and other meets with a spouse who is also knowledgeable in the sport.

Am I unique? How many of you also found your love "on the track" so to speak?

I am fresh out of college, and not married yet, but I can definitely see it happening. Throughout my 4 years of college track and field, I dated a pole vaulter, a hurdler, a heptatholete, and then a 5k runner. The 5k runner was my longest relationship at a year and a half.

Does that mean that a relationship with a 10k runner would last 3 years; with a miler 6 months; and with a 100m runner about 11 days?

Well good for you 5kguy. The distance runners I went out with (some longer than I should have) were nuttier than fruitcakes.

My wife had no background in track, but picked it up quickly, is very knowledgeable, and even remembers names I sometimes forget. She's been to the last three OT's with me.

My wife suffers trough the Trials, but still comes and even humours me that she is enjoying herself. I must be one lucky bastard.

As an aside, let me say this about that: I don't recommend any woman marrying a T&F statistician!

Gee, not a lot to worry about there. T&FN statisticians are generally too nerdy to get married. Fewer than half have gotten married during or after their tenure. Who would have them? Danno, comments?

Jim Rorick got married (successfully, pushing 20 years). E(ek) Gary Hill liked it so much, he did it at least twice. Don't know about Shaun or Dan, I'm kinda png at TFN these days.
