The latest "Competitor" magazine has a heart-warming story about Adriane Stone, who finished 8th in the trials in Eugene. Link below. A lot of Jesus, but it's a sweet story. Happy labor day, all.

    Great story. who knew?

All I know is that she was one of my favorite athletes to watch at the trials.

She exuded joy unlike any other athlete there. She stood out as it like she'd bought her competition outfit at Target...but it didn't matter.

As a fan/former competitor/former high jumper...I'd like to think I would've exuded as much joy as her if I'd ever made the trials.

    Kudos

It's nice to see that main-stream journalists can never keep the facts straight:

In 1999, she'd been a rising star, ranked seventh American on the Track & Field News all-time list.
She was =5th on the 1999 list and =29th on the all-time US list (outdoors).

Heck, I did not even bother to check that, as I was sure it was wrong ! And not just because the "7th American on the all-time list " sounded too good, but for the general reason you stated... non-track journalists seem to never, ever, double check factoids.

It is a great story, so let's try to embrace the Christian message in regard to non-track journalists... Forgive them for they know not what they do!!!

I agree, but my problem is that once I can play the BS card, I pretty much suspect everything else in the article.

Ever get those viral e-mails that start: "You MUST read this! It is the most amazing thing you'll ever read, and your life will be changed once you read it." ?

I never get more than two sentences in before I find the first blatant lie.

Ah, yes, but WE know what they do. They print falsehoods, and they expect us to turn the other cheek.
