The overall winner of this event might come from the "B" race. Novlene Williams could have handled the field in the "A" race.

        You were right!

Novlene ran 50.33 to win the 'B' race, while Shericka ran 50.47 to win the 'A' race:

Looks to me to be like the old Zürich men's 800s, where they have too many good people for one race, so there's no real A or B race. Rather than trying to parse them all, they go to a bit of a random draw situation, so the better people all can have good lanes.

Ominous sign. Jamaica will be rich in tallent at the next world Championship to take the women's 4X400 and this may also add to there 2012 haul of gold medals at the next Olympics. Please do not be surprise when this happens these women will be a pool of consistent sub 50.00 which could be about 4 ladies for next year.

They may be rich in talent, but the USA is still richer in that event and there's no reason to think that will change by 2012.

Why not ? Nobody thought they would dominate the 100 and 200 either. I'm not saying it will happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it does happen. Four years is a long time and I'm sure we don't even know some of the Olympic champions of 2012 today.

Of course, it could happen. I just don't see how what Shericka and Novlene Williams did in Lausanne, where neither PR'ed, could be considered an "ominous sign." They were on the Jamaican team in Beijing and ran well, but the US ran better.
