morceli had 1'44.79, but didn't run event much

ngeny again, didn't run 800 much, but his 2'11.96 is certainly <1'43 ability ( split 1'44.6 in his 1k )

bayi also ran 1'44 as did walker & again not regular 800 guys

ovett also didn't run many 800s after '80

ryun ran 1'44.3wr which has to be worth close to 1'43 on modern tracks with decent pacing ( ran -ve splits )

cruz,i think was just shy with a ?3'33pb

it's a great stat, <1'43/<3'33, but mostly predicated on most recent top 1500 guys not bothering with the 800

Kamel, with his 1:42.79 and 3:32.83, appears to have the tools to be a threat in championship 1500s, but unlike his father, he does not have a history of performing at his best at major championships.
Thanks for pointing this out - interesting stat.

Tried to find anyone else recent/current who is close: Baala 3:28.98 and 1:43.15. Maybe others, but he's the only one that caught my eye.

nice gain from 3'34.4 before '08 to today

will need bit better than 3'32.8 in the future to be consistent threat
