        I hope so?????

Otherwise, it would make JWs loss even more bitter. I mean if he loses to two people in a row after the Oly games it would seem his Champ Status is already waning

Next years WC will be a hoot, can't wait for the talk on these and other boards.

I hope the 2 top guys meet in Stuttgart for one last duel. Or maybe Van Damme?

I think Merritt said this was his last race of the season. Darn.

good decision, no reason to risk injury on nowhere races for flowers and cash. National champ, Olympic Champ are plenty of honors for year 2008. Time to rest for next year.

He is just afraid to race JW and lose again and end up having a losing record of 3-4 against JW

There's no way Merritt's worried about rankings right now or losing some circuit race to JW. It's all over 'til next season for all intents and purposes.

Nah as much as I would like to be in on this joke I think he genuinely wants to rest this one out due to seasonn's wear. I think he is willing to race JW as many times as are possible in order to as best as possible size JW up to eventually get the better of him in future races. So I don't think he cares a whole lot about losing to him during this season.

Serious kudos to the two of them. Their "non-dodging" is one of the season's hilights...

Wariner, naturally, stated at the week-end that he is hoping to end the year ranked number one. He, himself, has no choice but to press on.
