  • OT--What 1 Event Would You Watch?

If the USS Enterprise were available to beam you to Sacramento for just one event in July, which one would it be? (Aside from watching the Aggies smuggle a keg over the fence that is)

      Process of elimination

Not my favorite event - PV - because SD should dominate the women and the men are so inconsistent

Not anything over 400 because we are outmatched in Athens

No DT, HT, JT for the same reason.

Of the sprints, gotta stick with the 100 bec/ int'l signif.

      LJ over TJ

      SP should be good

But then we arrive at the obvious choice: Decathlon! Pappas is hot and his subordinates are on the upswing, and the suspense, event to event, is always great.

      Hence: DECATHLON.

400H. I think this event could be a surprise. Lots of people in the running poised to run times. Who's gonna make the team?
Maybe even get to watch Edwin Moses.

Yeah, I like that one too. We are overdue for several sub-48's. Seems like stagnation has set in, but I agree several are on the brink.

Easy choice: men's 110H. So much can go so wrong so easily, even among the favorites. And whoever survives to make the team has a good shot at medaling.

Come on people, the decathlon is the only logical choice. You get 10 events for the price of 1. No other event comes close in terms of momentum swings, change of lead, etc. What other event can you see the same person have a horrid performance and an oustanding one in the same event?

Women's Pole Vault, with my drool cup (bucket?) in hand. With any luck, that'll be one of the event's I'll get "stuck" working in Sacramento.

Not at all pleasant imagery! Despite my love of the field events this year it will be the men's 100m.

Being a distance running fan, despite the fact that we have virtually no impact on the world scene, I think the wide open 1500m will be interesting. It'll probably be tactical and slow, but the race itself will be fascinating as will the "race" to see if the standard is met sufficient to send all three of our top finishers!
