Age 5 here it is 3v3 and the hyper-aggressive kids dominate. Unfortunately 5 of my 6 kids are either very aggressive or very athletic and no matter what combination I put out there, we score a goal-a-minute. I'm afraid to only put 2 out there, because it would look like we're playing the pity card. My only solution is to tell them "only Billy can score" (the one non-athletic boy), because we're learning to 'pass' (an almost foreign concept at this age). Last year it was WE that had the mostly non-athletic kids and a typical score was 4-20.

Tell them they get points for passing?

Noble in theory, but once the ball is put into play, they ALL rush to kick it (I wanna play with the toy!) and there's no one to pass TO. My goal for the season is to give them a sense of field position so they don't all go to the ball at the same time. One guy in front of the ball; one guy on the ball; one guy behind the ball - assuring them that the ball will come to them soon enough!

            excellent.
I'm already into soccer season. The mighty, mighty Under-6 Tigers won their season opener!
Well the U8 Royals have started off with two defeats. (3-5 & 5-7) I think its the new coach (that's me, ops: ) But I'm hoping our endurance star will be cleared by the doctor for Game 4 and all will be great again.

I wouldn't worry about position at U6 as long as you have a team where all the kids want to play you're ahead of the game. My U8 team is just starting to understand spacing. We only have two kids at the ball at one time.

Having gone from seasons where we annihilate all opposition, directly into seasons where we can barely break .500, I have given up any misapprehension that the coach makes much difference at all. Having done this for over 25 years at many levels (from U-5 to the varsity boys HS team), I have become 'competent' (shut up, Mark, you goofy limey, you!) as a coach, and that's all one can hope for in 'making a difference'.

usa fans in havana wore bandana's covering their faces and dark sunglasses...given usa frowns upon usa citizens visiting cuba illegally...

But IF I were interested in Indoors, CA wouldn't "work."
