  • IAAF Fantasy Game: Attrition

Apparently, half the battle in the IAAF Fantasy Game is just sticking with it. I think somewhere between 3,500 and 4,000 created teams, but when I check the picks of some of the lower-scoring teams, it's clear most stopped participating some time ago. From what I can tell, only about 1,000 of us are seriously playing. Which makes my current placing of 136th seem a little less impressive, but I suppose just finishing the race is a victory of its own.

It's unfortunate that so many have dropped out, and here's a prime example why: One of our T&FN Buddies members, Vaxter, hasn't entered picks for any post-Olympics meets. Given that it is mathematically possible for him (her?) to still win our league title (realistically impossible, sure, but still …) I have to wonder how he would have done had he kept going. Vaxter, you still out there?

Its not just attrition, also people are allowed to create a team any time during the year and compete for the weekly prizes. I checked just now and there are 4621 teams created but only 3466 have scored above zero. In the last couple meets around 1500 people have actually completed there entries for those meets.

That's actually pretty impressive - unless there are people creating multiple teams and trying to cover many angles. I have struggled but hung in there.

Yes I'm still out there. Reason why I ended up not spending my time on this game was that I missed out on one meet in July, Monaco or Rome I think. That time I was about to post it but the competition shut down 3 hours before the gala started

Did some of the competitions after that but as I lost so much in the total race (which is what cares) that I gave up this post-olympics.

Good luck to all of you still left in the game!

but i missed Zurich and i'm still top 40 and 2nd in our league. i was 7th at the time  but would only be around20th now if i had made selections. there are loads of people dropping off right now but there are others who are coming on strong i assume they've been saving people so they can have a sprint finish

there are some obviou flaws in the format but over all it's been a great game
            i deserve extra credit
