Does anyone subscribe to this? I was wondering what people thought of this publication.

i rarely look at it these days to be honest as I get all the info I need from the Web. when i do pick it up i enjoy it.

it seems a lot less trashy than it used to. about a decade or so ago I used to think it was awful. vastly inferior to athletics today, which also used to appear in the uk, but then i guess it was aimed at a younger, different audience.

AW used to have one semi-competent (albeit wet-behind-the-ears) journo. His name was Jim or Jon or Joe or something like that, but he quit and now the ship is rudderless!

I used to get it for free, and enjoyed its cheeky tone. Great letters to the editor. Lots of photos. Much of it goes online now, I hear:

I've never heard of it. What country is it from?

I used it to find all-comers (open) meets in London to compete in the Summer of 1967. I didn't really get the chance to read more than a couple of issues, but it seemed a more provincial magazine, serving a different purpose, than T&FN then.

i've subscribed since 1987 !!! it' had it' up and downs but it's really good right now for example this week it has
                  a great news section,
articles on former UK head coach Frank Dick, Track mgt companies
                  Q&A with Tyson Gay
                  editors OG diary
                  IVD golden league report
reports on dometic road races including 5k featuring , defar, masia, pavey, wangui
comment by the genius Stan Greenburg
feature in the legacy ot merlene otey on JAM sprinting
letters page (whick never makes any sense and can often be dominated for week by letters about timing at couthern laugue matches!!!)
article on technique and tactics used at OG
                  then pages of results

for me it a more complete read than T&F news which as a monthly i often rather out of date especially by the time we get it in UK and can seem very parochial epecially when it is full of pages and pages of college reults that mean absolutely nothing to me
                  i deserve extra credit

I haven't really bought it since the internet meant I could get all the results and news I wanted at my fingertips...

I might get this week's if there is a Merlene piece, mind...

I used to get it when I was a kid. And then I realised that the writers are actually kids themselves, so I was put off :P

Athletics Today was wicked. Athletics Weekly went through an awful stage of focussing on fell and cross country running at one stage, but it's coming back to something decent, although some of the journalism was/is a bit shabby.

I only buy the preview editions of the major champs and the results edition, so I have a hard copy reference all the time. But to be honest the reviews of Beijing were poor: with many events the bronze medalist would have a mention along the lines of "and x came through for bronze" which is quite frankly shocking. I understand they have limited space, but far too much focus on British athletes and not enough intelligent analysis. Plus they just plagiarise comments on these boards
