The video here in the US is running about 15 minutes behind, but the IAAF radio announcers are going nuts.

So if I have the stats right, that means Spotakova leaves Stuttgart with $130,000 ($30K for the win and $100K for the WR).

It is very rare for the implement to land that far beyond any line marked on the field. It seemed to this novice that the implement had minimal flex.

              1 29 Barbora Špotáková CZE 72.28 (WR)
              2 57 Christina Obergföll GER 63.28 .
              3 56 Steffi Nerius GER 62.78 .
              4 61 Zahra Bani ITA 60.22 .
              5 60 Linda Stahl GER 58.90 .
              6 50 Goldie Sayers GBR 58.04 .
              7 95 Barbara Madejczyk POL 56.71 .
              8 32 Mercedes Chilla ESP 54.29

The margin between Špotáková and 2nd place Obergföll is 1cm bigger than that between Obergföll and Chilla... After skipping her second and third throws, Špotáková turned up for her last to, understandably, record a 58.39.

Not only was it a great throw, but with essentially still air, there was little aerodynamic assistance.

An interesting observation is that behind the exceptional
Felke and Whitbread, no-one has thrown more than 74.76 (Tiina Lillak)
even with the old spear. In all, only a handful ever did better back
                  then.

... and Whitbread's WR was also in Stuttgart.

                      Whoa.

That has to be a WR.

                      Waits for the mark.

                      It is a WR !

I think I realized it immediately, that was an unbelievable throw, even more when you see the conditions. There was little bit of wind in the stadium the entire time, I don't know if it helped much. It's the third current WR in Stuttgart, Sedykh and the m4x400 are the others.

What an athlete. She looks to have a even more in her. That throw appeared to be effortless.
