    Despite a 59.08 first lap :shock:

    I am not that surprised. IIRC, she has run something like 55.x+59.x or even
    +58.x in her better races. A 59.x+57.x just shows how pedestrian a 59.x first
    lap is to a runner of her caliber.

      The (Dutch) Eurosport-commentators said that Jepkosgei was going to switch to the 1500m , they speculated that it could be because Jelimo is "invincible". Supposedly Jepkosgei is going to run a 1500m in Shanghai :shock: .

      Good run by Jelimo if she stays motivated nothing can stop her. If she wins the World-Champs next year she'll have won everything :shock: . The only goal that would remain in that case is the " :evil: world-record :evil: " by Kratochvilova( :roll: ).

        she has quite a lot of work to do to be a threat over 1500

          Also if Jepkosgei does start running the 1500m it looks like Kenya/Ethiopia are really making an effort in the 1500 with Burka and "Jamal" also competing!

            Eldrick , yes you are right she has run the distance in the past. But the commentators suggested that the move up to the 1500m would be permanent :shock: . And of course she'll have to improve but she has the talent .

              off maybe 52s speed & 1'56.0, if she was currently an equally strong 800/1500 gal, then she has 3'57/3'58 potential currently ( & coud maintain 52/1'56 when moving up - highly unlikely )

              i just get this gut feeling she won't do well at 1500

                Note that that time would have been a WJR at teh start of this year but it's only her No. 9 time on the season now. One more and she can take over the entire top 10. (and she only misses by 26 days of having all of next year counting as well)

                  Do some of the marks from Russia get scrubbed?

                    i was wondering that

                    i think though, gh meant on all-time junior list ( albeit iaaf has computer glitch & won't let you access the list )

                      That was Jelimo's last race of the season and what a rookie year it was. I'm wondering what would be the better second distance for her in peak shape, the 400 or 1500. She doesn't seem to have top 400 speed, on the other hand she has incredible endurance in the 800 and so far she has looked invincible. I mean there wasn't one race (not counting heats) she didn't win comfortably.

                        this is just hypothetical, but she has a 52.78 from nairobi this year - call it 52.0 - 52.5 if run on circuit regularly this year with elite fields

                        if she coud run 1500 as good as 800 currently ( obviously coudn't as she's just moved upto 800 )

                        from

                        http://www.jundo.co.uk/

                        1'54.00 with

                        52.00 -> ~ 2'26.6 , 3'50.8 , 4'09.7 , 5'18.1 , 8'19.1 , 14'37.8 , 31'20.5

                        52.25 -> ~ 2'26.4 , 3'49.9 , 4'08.6 , 5'16.4 , 8'15.5 , 14'29.5 , 30'57.8

                        52.50 -> ~ 2'26.2 , 3'49.1 , 4'07.6 , 5'14.8 , 8'11.9 , 14'21.3 , 30'35.0

                        not surprisingly, she has 1500 wr potential, as qu was "only" a 1'56.24 runner when she ran 3'50.46

                          Next year is going to be a wild year. Can she go 1:52.xx before the end of 2009?
