  • Are pre-1984 300m hurdles times legit?

I was just looking at the top 10 all-time high school list on this web-site, and under the men's 300m hurdles I noticed several marks dated pre-1985. Didn't high schoolers run the 300m low hurdles before 1985, and if so, should these marks be counted along side the intermediate hurdle times? Just curious if any one (Mr. E. Garry Hill?) knows the case with these marks.

Oops! The title of this thread should read "Are pre-1985 300m hurdles times legit?"

They are legit. A long while ago there WAS a 300LH, but it was always listed separately, and has long since passed away.

A small minority of states, including California and Illinois, went to the 330y 30" hurdles instead of the 36" hurdles when they switched from the 180y 30" race in the late-'60s and early-'70s.
