    Anyone read the above article?

Some interesting quotes with interesting implications:

He denied claims of abandoning the global phenomenon as she dropped out of secondary school insisting that delayed pension after his retirement led to lack of fees.

"Yes, it is true that I failed to raise her school fees since I was not given money after retirement. We tried everything possible to get back to school,"
    &

Kibiwott, who taught at Menengai, Kemeloi, Kaptumo, Moi Sirgoi and Koyo Secondary Schools before retiring in 2002, said that he spoke to Jelimo last shortly before she left to Beijing.
    Few thoughts:

If she dropped out of secondary school, to me that implies having attended for a few years and then driopping out. Perhaps as a 15 year old? If it was because there was no funds following his retirement in 2002 - that would make her 21 at max.

However, the funds could have dried up in subsequent years, perhaps 2004, which would make her 19. Or indeed, perhaps she never attended secondary school, "dropping out" at 13...5/6 years ago. Either way, the article does seem to confirm Jelimo IS indeed a junior. I know many have their doubts, so I thought that was interesting. [/quote]

Yes you are right she's NOT old. Jepkosgei also said she knew her for over 7 years (when she was little) so the speculation in this regard was a bit useless
    Go African athletes!

Well, up close, she certainly passes the "looks like a teenager" test. That in itself is comforting.

Jelimo just got married to a fellow 800 meter specialist Peter Kiprotich Murrey:

That news appeared on the T&FN home page on Sunday, the day before yesterday, with a link to a story in English.

The full article was re published by IAAF. It's one of the best athletics related reads I have ever had. The girl is begging for a film to be made about her life.

Does the husband have any numbers to his name, he's an 800m guy.
