In only (re-)stating the obvious here: The 1.500m event lacks a power-puncher. Folks will hover around 3.29 for a few more years, because the crop of guys who have assumed the leadership role(s) are finess runners who don:t lay it out at 2.44-2.46.

Fine jump, but his only one over 8.40 all season. Last year he had five meets over 8.40; two years ago he had eight meets over 8.40.

8.73 outweighs a whole lot of poor competitions, and looking at the last few
seasons (including the olympic 2004) the overall level was decent. Obviously,
compared with the hey-days of Lewis, we are poorly served...

I won't prolong the agony: it is the 400H. Now you can let your breath out. However the 110 hurdle's, except for the WR, is only marginally better, with the 10 best performer coming in at #856.

Eh, I was listing the 8th performance, not the 8th performer. Carry on.

    ??!!

    #8 on the 2008 m400H list is 48.50.
That doesn't even make the top 1000 performances on pela's list.

    100: T15
    200: T81
    400: T64
    800: T221
    1500: T340
    Mile: 202
    5000: 159
    10000: 74
    3000St: 263
    Marathon: T20
    110H: T25
    400H: T419
    HJ: T253
PV: 154 (I don't know why pela doesn't have this listed at T135)
    LJ: T400
    TJ: T222
    SP: T412
    DT: T117
    HT: T365
    JT: T335
    Dec: T176

I refuse to acknowledge the walks, so somebody else is going to have to look that up.

No idea what the answer is, but "worst" and "fewest marks in the top 1000" aren't necessarily the same thing at all.
