    The IAAF road race gold and silver label recognitions are not based on a public popularity contest. The events selected first of all have to apply for consideration. They will then will be evaluated based on a complex set of requirements, as stipulated on the IAAF web site - see link below.

    I don;t think it's a very good guide at all because it doesn't include any of the Bupa races in the UK (notably Great Manchester 10km, Great North Run, Great South Run, or the Hydro Active Women's 5km, which has seen some great winners down the years) and it doesn't include hardly any of the US road-races (Carlsbad 5km, Mobile 10km, New Orleans 10km, Washington 10M or New York 10km)

    Aus you know the IAAF has launched the Road Race Label Events:

    Most of them are top notch races, a few not so much.

    I like the idea however, which lead me to consider which road races are the best and most prestigious these days.
