<< Michelle Collins.... capped a stellar ’03 undercover campaign by winning the World Indoor 200 gold, but as she crossed the line she suffered an injury that sidelined her for the rest of the year.
“I partially tore the hamstring,” says Collins, now back in full training with coach George Williams at St. Augustine’s. “But after several misdiagnoses, doctors found the real problem was in my back. “She now does an extensive series of exercises three times daily to both strengthen muscles and keep her back aligned.
She will skip the indoor season. “I feel I’ve done pretty much all I wanted to do indoors,” she explains. “I’ll focus on the Trials and Games. I’ll run both the 200 and 400 during the outdoor season, then choose one near the time of the Trials.”
