Holy shit! That's awfully an impressive showing for Washington. Oregon has what looks on paper to be a good team, and they were running at home. Not even close. Wow!

As expected, Oregon men win with Stanford 2nd. Rupp breaks 23 minutes and breaks the course record by over 20 seconds in 22:55 unofficially. Wow...

Anyone know what the highest finish at the NCAA XC is for a mostly 800m guy? This is not a quiz, I don't know the answer.

Wow!-just got back from the Pac 10's- and what UW did to Oregon in the women's race was stunning. Oregon fans-including me -were shocked at how easily the Huskies put a wuppin on the lady Ducks. - and Scharf the Freshman from Canada looked like NCAA champion material. Still I wouldn't count out a Vince Lananna coached team yet. 8-)

The men as expected beat #2 Stanford with Rupp smoothly breaking the course record and Pudskedra - the Freshman from Salt Lake taking second place and looking very good indeed. 8-)

There were thousands of spectators on the course- many of them High School age as the XC state championships are tomorow- a great atmosphere. 8-)

The Oregon Women started the season ranked #1 and gave way to Washington. Washington just went 15-45 on the LEAGUE. This is like the Wisconsin team that swept 1-4,6-9 the Big Ten a few years back. Apparently the Oregon women were up front early but the Washington runners steadily displaced them.

I guess that there will be little doubt who will be ranked #1 is there?

Note Chris Derrick in third is a frosh as well. He ran 13:55 at Arcadia last spring then came down with mono, precluding a possible race against Fernandez. If I recall correctly, his 13:55 was the fastest ever in a HS-only race. It put him 6th on the alltime HS 5K list (the latter factoid from this month's TAFNEWS).

First time ever any team has swept 1-5 on men:s or women:s side, I believe.
