  • New York City Marathon

Might as well start a thread for race day.

Weather forecast calls for sunny skies with temperatures in the mid to upper 40's (8-9C) during the race.

Winds 7-8mph from the North or NNE, which means a bit of a headwind for much of the race.

I just got up, 7 am here in Connecticut, clear skies but i did see whats left of the fall leaves here were blowing around a bit. If there is a headwind will Paula still lead whole the way like last year?

A couple of predictions. Paula will win in 2:24 and Kara will be in the top 4 in 2:27-28.

Oh are there men running also? :P Maybe im not a sexist pig afterall.

When Paula is running, I don't care about the men's race.

I'd say Paula will win in something under 2:23. Wami 2nd, Jeptoo 3rd, Morgunova 4th, Goucher 5th and Ndereba 6th.

Is it just me or does anyone else find it strange that you set the date for a marathon right after the night when daylight saving time ends ? Not a best case scenario.

So what time does it start and what time does that make it in UK?

Clocks went back here last week and for the life of me I can't work it out :?

I forgot about that, and was getting frustrated (flustrated, as some of my patients say) not being able to find the live feed. I assume it doesn't start till 7:00 a.m EST sharp.

By the way, does anyone else get a little flustrated when they go to a homepage like Universal Sports and it takes several minutes to sift through all the hyperbusy visual crapola with which they festoon their page and actually find where to click to watch the day's biggest offering? It should be easier than it is. Or do I just have some sort of homepage dyslexia?

For optimal weather conditions, this is just about the right weekend in New York. Not very likely to be either too hot or too cold. The clock switch might be a concern if people were losing an hour of sleep, but the other way around is actually a help for the runners who have to get up quite a bit earlier than they normally would in order to get out to the start in Staten Island.

I'm getting a countdown timer saying the main race feed doesn't kick in for another 42 minutes, even though it says 8:50 EST as the starting time. But it's now 9:04 in NYC.

Same for the men's and women's live feeds.

Partway up the first bridge, Radcliffe goes straight to the front with the field in tow, Goucher right behind her.
