There were some nays from the crowd, but it was obvious there were way more yays.

There is a whole committee whose job is to make sure it's not homogenous.

USATF generally does fairly well in the diversity department.

So long as it's a true meritocracy and not filling spots to be sure there's a transgender dwarf in there then the system may have merit. But I fear the door has been opened to too much manipulation by PC forces.

Pvp you place far too much altruism in this. Logic says a given group of people will be consistent in whatever type of person they chose. Example, liberal, conservative, and a progressive candidates are submitted, the choices will start to look the same. It is inevitable.
But more to my thinking is who is choosing the committee and what's its make up? But more importantly ask yourself why this step is necessary? The various constituencies are more than able to select their own reps. It is not USATFs role to determine the make up of the board. That is stacking the deck. Logan is going to determine who he has to answer to. Oh wait, he changed that the board now answers to the CEO! That is as backwards as it gets. And we went for it!

Gh I think the PC brigade is the least of the concerns. The puppeteers are the real concern. This is a bad layout I am seeing. Where's the separation of power? The checks and balances? Logan has come in and structured this thing as if we are children.

Well then its up to each committee to make sure that all three of their nominees are legit.

I believe this committee was already selected in advance of this weekend.

I think Hightower will probably win as president, and that will definitely create some checks and balances.

The president is not guaranteed to be chairman of the board as they were in the past, but they are not guaranteed not to be. And if they aren't chairman of the board, they are vice chair.

And I don't think it is accurate to say Logan structured this thing. The USOC has been after USATF for YEARS to make these changes. It's unfortunate that it came down to the USOC holding a gun to our heads, but that's how it went down.

However, the current board was able to make a number of adjustments to what the USOC wanted, and we all ended up with a MUCH better proposal than what was originally out there.

Pvp the nature of the changes set the stage for a fight. These are not innocent business decisions. These changes and the restructure were forced and in some cases contrived in a power move. As in any relationship, personal or business, trust is paramount. If we have learned nothing we have learned there is little trust among the factions.
Logan wants to end the infighting but has chosen to back the USOC. This set the tone for all that we are witnessing.

And being the Vice chair is not pacifying a vote of no confidence. The level of power has been decided by then. I think Stephanie will be the Chairman but not without another fight. Again, setting a negative and adveserial tone for the board.

Then there is the fact that everything runs through the CEO and national office now. This micromanaging is a bad idea. The factions are wide spread and their demands and needs are very diverse. Then there is the HP division after all is said and done. The true carrot and true goal.

I'm not optimistic about the structure or an outside governing body have direct influence over the daily happenings in our sport. No one ask why we need USOC members on our board when the Games come around once every four years. Yes they have money, but what does that have to do with Worlds and the 99 percent of the sport they have nothing to do with, functionally that is.

One significant part of the restructuring package that is much more important now that Hightower has been elected: it is now in the bylaws that the CEO has full hiring and firing authority of the staff.
