  • University of Utah Women's Track Team

After having LoLo Jones at practice yesterday, I figure this is as good a time as any to post about our 'twitter' site.

Check out what the Utah Track & Field woman are doing everyday. In-depth workouts, team, road trips, college life, recruiting. This program is well on its way to somewhere it has never been before! We also just received a very generous $2 million donation from Mr. McCarthy to build a new track right in the middle of campus! Our XC team finished their '08 season matching our best conference finish in history, along with equaling our highest regional ranking ever!!

Exciting times to be a Ute!

Feel free to let me know what you think. Is anybody interested in video of the 442m indoor mondo track we train on?

    Go Utes!!

A photo shoot of some kind. She flew directly from her award banquet in Reno. The photo shoot was being taken by a company in Utah, so the obvious choice of venue is the Utah Olympic Oval. 442m of mondo track and an Olympic atmosphere!

Just some chit-chat, but she was very excited about this years Drake Relays. She said they are going to go even bigger this year, and she mentioned they will be on TV. Anybody else hear this?

The Drake Relays Meet Director was in Reno, so she probably heard it there.

Oops! I hope I'm not getting her in trouble. I better keep my mouth shut until more of the info goes public :?

She was so nice to our girls, I would hate to get people mad at her. We are very excited (like we always are) to bring the Utes back to Drake this year!

400h third post sez 442m but 452m would be equally as puzzling.

Distance around a speed-skating oval, I am guessing. Similar to what exists in Calgary, and will exist in Vancouver after 2010. Distances may be odd, but provide great Indoor Training Venues.

It is 442m. We practice on it 2-3 times a week. Kind of cool to be running in lane one with Apolo Ono cruising around the outside of the ice on his rest break right beside you. I plan on bringing my camera to practice today and uploading some video of the track on my twitter site. http://twitter.com/Utah_trackfield

Wow. Put a dog track around the perimeter of the running track, then a harness racing track, then a thoroughbred track, a motorcycle loop, a midget car track, then NASCAR, and finally a Formula One track, then run 'em all at once. Maybe one day a year throw in a Figure-8 race as well.

Re: University of Utah Women's Track Team

We are still working on finishing our outdoor track, but we are getting very close. The McCarthey Family Track & Field Complex is scheduled for completion on August 15th.

Here is a link to the KSL news feature on our track... http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=294&sid=11538816
