Can she stand a meet with multiple (tough) rounds?

That really is the key question for Berlin and beyond. I thought she showed in Eugene that the answer might be 'yes'. But then in Beijing, she ran faster in both her heat and her semifinal than she had in Eugene, and slower in the final. In a one-round 400m, she's still the best in the world. But if she can't do tough rounds . . .

She clearly showed that she was better at rounds in 2008 than 2007. Progress is being made???

2009 could potentially be tougher than 07 and 08.

Felix has hinted she'll be doing more 400's and may even move to that event for next year to see how it goes. There's also the possibility of a resurgent Sanders. In 07 she could have run sub 49.6 had she timed her race better. Then we have the Williams sisters, either one of which could improve on their 49.6, and who knows what Russian might run well. They always continue to surprise us and though 08 didnt see any of them break 50 secs they all ran brilliantly in the Beijing final and nearly took the US in the relay.

I love the way that post has covered most of the main women in the world except the World and Olympic champion.. :lol:

I just don't believe she has the mental toughness at this point. She is clearly the best 400m runner around but she has NEVER put it together on the big occasion and I don't see that changing....

Speaking of health, how is yours?

It’s a lot better; 2007 was the worst year when I was going through really bad symptoms; 2008 was better and it’s getting even better because the doctors say the further I get away from a flare-up the better. And I haven’t had any episodes in about a year.



Could she approach the performance levels of 2006 again?
