So it is! Forgot that Tabakova had ran 7.13 (I was thinking her SB was still 7.22...)

So Devers was .02 off the AR and .07 off the WR?
Pretty good for an old lady.

            Note Eaubonne (France) meeting yesterday:
            1. Christine ARRON 7.16
            2. Muriel HURTIS 7.22 (opener)
            3. Véronique MANG 7.36
            4. Sylviane FÉLIX 7.37 (opener)
            5. Frédérique BANGUÉ 7.40

Great to see Marion JONES running again, 7.21 for her first race after pregnancy is good. To compare, Christine Arron's first race after giving birth last year was 7.22!

              poor time

she's had plenty of time since her pregnancy

considering her AR is 6.95,i would have that a time ~ 7.15 would have been more like an opener

Do a news google search-some thought it was great-others didn't.

"The starting gun went off, and she stalled. Three other women jumped ahead. In a blink, with 20 meters to run, Jones saw a frightening image and replaced it with a better one.

"After four steps, I looked up and saw — I looked like a woman who has been on pregnancy leave for 12 months," she said. "I was like, `Whoa, what's going on?'"

Not surprised at Asafa Powell's time, looked in good shape last Saturday.

She is just geting the kinks out. In about three weeks or so she will be having so great runs.

if her rivals could not beat her in her first race in 1 1/2 year then they are in trouble.
she has two more races indoors, but this is just a warm up for her. i am sure by mid summer she will be back at 10.7, 21.9 again and i doubt any of her rivals can go that fast.

He also appeared very ralaxed and had no problem dismissing the field which included the hotly disputed and debated world # 1 for outdoor sprint last year Mr. Capel. Interesing season ahead .....

A boost for the sport would be for Marion to move up the 400m and race the Great Guevara!

Well, you won't have to wait that long for a great matchup. The BBC is reporting that Marion will face Block over 60 meters on Feb. 20: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/athletics/3390683.stm

Relative to comments here (and in another post) about what Jones's 60 performance meant, and what Powell vs. Capel meant relative to Athens this summer. The answer is.... absolutely nothing! (or close thereto)

The 60 is just such a totally different animal than the 100 and tends to come at such an early time of year that it really is hard to divine anything from watching it. (Everybody does remember '97 world champion Harálabo Papadiás right?)

I'll never forget the '76 Sunkist meet in LA, with the famed Frank Deford covering for SI. Houston McTear pulled a typical hole shot and dusted the 60(y) field, prompting Deford to leap to his feet in excitement and shout, "They might as well mail him the gold medal now!"
